Drones were also helping the response to hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Drones took to the sky to help first responders, but also are being used by insurance companies to more quickly process claims.

FAA Administrator Michael Huerta, said at the InterDrone Conference that using drones to respond to Hurricane Harvey will be a “landmark in the evolution of drone usage in this country.” Huerta also recognized that the FAA needs to move quickly to provide exemptions for drones to help during disasters. “We basically made the decision that anyone with a legitimate reason to fly an unmanned aircraft would be able to do so,” Huerta said.

The Red Cross said they will start testing drones for disaster relief.
Drone Pot Delivery Banned in California

The California Bureau of Cannabis Control just says “no” to marijuana drone deliveries.

This is bad news for startups with names like MDelivers, Eaze, Trees Delivery, and others that have promised or demonstrated autonomous drone delivery of marijuana.

In case you're wondering in California deliveries may be made only in person by enclosed motor vehicle. Vehicles used for delivery must have a dedicated, active GPS device that enables the dispensary to identify the geographic location of the vehicle during delivery.

The X-37B mystery drone strikes again. Right before Irma smashed into Florida SpaceX launched the drone into space for the Air Force at Cape Canaveral.
