About the Service
I started my droning career as a pilot on my fire departments drone team. I was flying several hours a week and thought that I could use some of my experience to help other industries with the problems that could be solved more efficiently by using drones. I began Whitney Drone Services in January of 2022. Since then I have completed several commercial real estate, commercial inspection, and residential real estate flight missions.
About the Drone
The drone I primarily use is the DJI Phantom 4 Pro version 2.0. The reason I chose this particular model is its ability to be an all around workhorse. It has a 20mp camera with a one inch sensor, global mechanical shutter, and an adjustable aperture. These camera features allow me to adjust for all types of lighting conditions to get the best photographic results. Since the global shutter takes the picture all at once vs. the lenticular rolling shutter of other drones taking pictures line by line, top to bottom I can fly mapping missions without having to stop and hover to take pictures. The Phantom 4 frame is also a larger and heavier frame than the Mavic series of drones allowing it to handle higher winds without being thrown around.
